After Tummy Tuck Surgery

What you should not do before the tummy tuck surgery

There are a number of forbidden things when one is preparing for tummy tuck surgery. These are:

Smoking

If you smoke, you will have to stop it around 2 weeks before the procedure is done. Smoking weakens the immune system and may delay healing and recovery after undergoing tummy tuck. Check this out to discover more about the things that should be avoided before and after abdominoplasty surgery.

Underlying serious medical condition

Patients who have prevailing medical conditions that may be affected by the surgery are not advised to undergo the cosmetic procedure as this could lead to complications. It is important that you talk with your surgeon beforehand and disclose  your medical history.

Pregnancy

If you are not done with giving birth in future, this is not the right procedure. This is because you skin will droop or become loose soon thereafter. It is suggested that you decide on the procedure after you are through with giving birth.  This is the only sure way that the problem will not recur.

Excessive weight loss

Since this procedure is not intended to help one lose weight, one should not go a weight loss program with the aim of significantly losing weight in order to fit into tummy tuck procedure. This is because the excessive weight loss could adversely affect their aesthetics when the skin becomes loose or droops. Many people experience weight gain after abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery and this is normal if a patient fails to establish a proper eating plan.

 Pressure

One should not undergo this procedure because they are under pressure from spouse, friend or relative.  Instead, it should be a conscious effort to lose weight, founded on solid grounds.
